| Government class i hate it! and my teacher gave us the questions for the test yesterday (he always gives us the questions, they're essay tests) and he gave his gov classes 1 day to study 4 essay questions, and some vocab. and that sucks cause it's not enough we can litterlly take 2 to 3 hours to go over one question but that's just to understand what it wants, no examples finding examples would probably take another hour or so. so i went to a study group at some girls house and it sucked. There was like 20 people there and it was stupid everyone was talking over everyone else and my friend and i just sat on the ground trying to hear what the "Smart Group" was talking about and that study group really made me not want to study. It was basically a waste of 3 hours. so then after that i went to my house and study some more well kind of actually not really, i was so not into studying after that study group that i just started watching "Disturbia" and then at 9:30 i went to another study group where there were only 4 people which was awesome! and i got a whole lot done but i didn't get home till 12 and i still had to write quickwrites for the questions so i basically went to bed at 2 am and i'm super tired today
so moral of the story small study groups trump large study groups for sure!
p.s. today i was eating an apple and i bit a heart in it for Twilight i'm such a loser lol |

| RANT TIME! whoo!
So at my school we have to take Freshman Studies as a class. It's this waste of time where they 'teach' things like public speaking and health and wellness and intro to art. Today we had this class called "Peer Mediation". It was supposed to help us work through conflict. HA!
The woman walks in and she is a law professor so she has this air about her that's snobby and arrogant. I don't like her already. Maybe that's just in retrospect but whatever. So she started by saying "What is conflict?" and we all had different answers. I go to a Quaker school so we don't raise our hands and stuff and you just have to be respectful and have an intelligent disscussion. We started talking and got into a conversation. We disagreed but worked it out fine. the kids in my class are obnoxious and I don't like them, so I'll disagree with them and argue and stuff. She says "Is this how you want me, a guest and a law professor, to think of Moses Brown? That you're a bunch of children who don't know how to hold a converstaion without being disrespectful? That's how you seem to me." Well, that shut us up. Way to start the conflict.
Then she gave us all envelopes. We were told that they all had a puzzle inside them that formed a rectangle. we had to get into groups and put together the puzzle without talking. GO. As we start doing the puzzle, she talks about how she does this with 4th graders and how they have fun with it and we deserve some fun too and such. Then she starts becoming a biotch. "guys, hurry up" "we don't have much time" "ok, well, you haven't finished by now, let's just put them away." Not very nice to say to someone who's trying to do a task youset them out to do. but we smiled anyway. It was obvious she had set this up to create conflict between her and us, right? WRONG. She was talking and asking us about what conflicts our groups had (we had none) and then we got into this discussin about how her tone was patronizing and condescending and such and she was like "I meant to be your cheerleader and encourage you, but this is good. How did YOU percieve me?" and we told her that SHE had said the patronizing things, but she started blaming it on our perception. then I said "so you're saying you DIDN'T mean to cause conflict?" she said she didn't and I told her I had a hard time believing that. she started questioning what could possibly have caused us to assume she was like that. she told us to check our assumptions. OK lady, aren't you the one who judged us FIVE MINUTES INTO CLASS? It makes perfect sense for you to be mean to us and lie to us because that causes onflict and what better way to deal with conflict than to cause it? This got us riled up but we were still respectful and stuff and we were asking her things like "Did other people give you positive feedback about saying things like that?" She ignored them. Then she wanted to move on. We still felt like there was conflict. If we can't get through this with a person who's supposed to be teaching us how to resolve it, how can she teach us to resolve other conflicts?
Then Mike stood up. He's our head of Upper School. He lectured us on being arrogant. That pushed me over the edge. He kept going on and on about how "you're freshman in high school. you can't even drive yet. You can't even vote yet. How do you expect to know more than a law professor?" OK first off, we don't say we know more. Second off, isn't what she's telling us to question assumptions and resole conflict? That's what we're trying to do! Like I said, I go to a Quaker School. Quakers (as we learned in Freshman Studies) believe that EVERYONE is equal, regradless of age. some people might have more experience or authority but that doesn't make thier opinions or what they have to say any less valuble. Mike completely went against that. I just got completely pissed off and stormed out of there (but I waited til the end of class this time)
That feels better. I like this section. It makes me less angry! Peace Out Girl Scout |

| I have no idea. None whatsoever.
Another extremely awful thing happened today. (I think I'm just gonna take up this whole board) So those of you who have read my blog know about Jake, the guy who tried to justify torture? well, today, my friend Liz was at her locker and Jake comes up behind her, puts his hands on her waist and then her stomach and announced to everyone that she's a great actress. She is, but that gives you NO EXCUSE to invade her personal space and put your hands on her whenever you want to. he stood there for about 30 seconds like that (Liz described it as forever) while she was trying to get away. Then someone must have offered him a cookie, cuz he scamered off.
WHAT THE HELL? Jake, you are an arrogant, ignorant, sorry excuse for a human being and you should never have been accepted to this school!
why do I rant so much? Peace out Girl Scout

| Well, my rant for the day is that I went onto FanFiction.net and tryed to print a thing on there after I copied it onto Word, and when I printed it, it came out double-sided. I didn't want it double-sided cuz I was gonna put it on my wall. I went to properties and thought I had fixed it. I printed the whole thing, but guess what? IT CAME OUT BACKWARDS!!!!! I could read it in the mirror just fine, but I waasn't putting it on my mirror! I tryed and tryed to fix it, but noooo, my printer wasn't haveing any of that. My dad came home and I asked him to fix it, so he did. When it printed, it came out double-sided!!! I told him that I didn't want it double-sided cuz I was putting it on my wall, but he's all like,"It'll save paper this way. We don't want to waste a tree on this, now do we?" UUGGHHH!! But then, he had the nerve to ask me what the big deal on Twilight was!
Dad Me
Why do you like Twilight so much anyway? Cuz it's awesome. What makes it so awesome? It can't seriously can't be that exciteing. WHAT? Why is Twilight so cool? What makes the grass green? What makes the sky blue? Because God made it so!!!! * a cunfuzzled dad walkes out of the room*
Yeah, my day's been kinda screwy. |

| So, this is going to be an angry rant and no one needs to read this unless you feel like it's really vital to your existance. Which.. it isn't. So, here it goes.
Last night was my roommate's birthday. We went out to a nice dinner and had a grand old time with just myself, my friend Alyssa, and our other friend Janelle. So, after a few hours I get kind of tired and my feet start to hurt because I hadn't worn heals and I decided to head on home and my roommate, Scott, needed to practice, anyway. By this time, we had already been informed that our friend Alyssa had left her cellphone and her keys in her apartment, leaving her stranded. She decides to head to school with Scott and just wait around in a practice room next door to him so she can use his phone in order to get in contact with a close friend of ours and her roommate, Emily. Now, we called her before we left the Pru (short for Prudential Center -- a mall in Boston for those that don't know) where we were at a little before 9. She doesn't pick up or call back so we head our seperate ways. When I get home, I get into some comfy clothes and curl up in bed and get ready to go to bed. I'm already in bed and getting to the point of "almost asleep" when my phone starts playing "99 Red Balloons" by Goldfinger which means Scott is calling me. I pick up my phone and it's Alyssa telling me that she just got ahold of Emily -- It is now 10:30 and she is at a church get together that she refuses to leave. In fact, she even told Scott when he spoke to her that after the prayer service is over, she wants to hang around for an extra half hour-- just because. So, she will not leave in order to go home and help a friend in need. Because, as stated - it's 10:30. Do you want to know when things close in Boston? Hmm.. 9. There are the rare occasions that things are open until 10, but that's quite rare. So, there she is - completely stranded and nowhere to go and Emily will not leave church where she's being told how to be a good catholic and how to appreciate things she has and blahblahblah. So, I tell her to walk to my apartment and I will spend time with her until we figure out what's going on or just have her stay here for the night even if I was already almost asleep. So, I send Emily a very mean text message stating, "Congrats on giving Lyss a reason to feel like she means something to you. I'm sorry but... damn." Now, I know this isn't very nice but the whole fact that she wouldn't leave CHURCH pissed me off to no end. Now, I know she's a big Catholic or whatever and I get that she wants to pray, but.. there's a time to be selfish and a time to help others. The fact that you were trying so hard to be a good christian at church, but yet.. you wouldn't help a friend in need kind of baffled me. I mean, isn't that the whole point? To do good deeds, to help others? To be a good person? I mean, I don't go to church and I don't pray all that often but I consider myself to be a good person. A friend calls at 2 am crying and tells me her boyfriend just broke up with her and can't stay at her apartment alone. I have my coat on in 2 seconds, putting on my shoes and asking where she is so I can meet her and bring her back to my apartment so she can stay with me.. which she did for a week and a half. That's a good deed, right? I'd like to think so, but the only thing Emily's dumbass mouth had to say was, "sorry you locked yourself out." That's a whole lot of help. I mean. Selfish, much? So, back to the story. Alyssa finally gets to my apartment and we sit down on the bed and talk about stuff and what's going on. Then, Imogen Heap's "Hide and Seek" starts playing which means Emily is calling me. She asks for Alyssa, and I hand her the phone. She proceeds to make excuses about how she was already at church and she just really wanted to stay, and Alyssa being the nice girl (and unhonest girl) says that it's okay and that it's fine. Then, it's my turn. Emily proceeds to tell me that she didn't appreciate how I treated her. My only response was, "well, I didn't really appreciate how you were treating Lyss. You were at CHURCH, Emily. You could have left to go help a friend. Isn't that the point? You pride yourself on being such a good christian, but you wouldn't help your friend when she was in need. I guess I misjudged you." She could only say that she had to hang up with me because she was very upset with me. I said, "fine. Bye," and that was the end of the conversation. Now, I know it sounds bitchy and I know it's a whole lot at once to say, but it's the honest truth. I wasn't about to sugar coat it. You don't treat your friends like that and you don't leave them out in the cold with nowhere to go. You help them out even if you're praying at church. Get off your goddamn knees and do something to help others - I'm sure God would much rather you go help someone in need than talk his ear off with your issues and problems and how much you need him. Man.
That was way long. Sorry. _________________
