| There was one podcast on similarities the Twilight books had to other books. For Eclipse it was Wuthering Heights; I haven't read that one so I can't really comment. What I was thinking was that it was like The Great Gatsby.
First, Daisy was in love with 2 guys ( Tom & Gatsby) like Bella was in love with Jake and Edward. Gatsby left Daisy and Edward left Bella. Daisy, I guess wasn't really all that distraught about it, but I guess I you could say she was "comforted" by Tom the way Jacob comforted Bella. And if Edward had stayed away longer I think it would have been very possible that Bella and Jake would get married or at least gotten way further into the whole boyfriend/girlfriend thing just like Daisy and Tom got married. The rest is a little of a stretch and the end results are very different. So then Gatsby/Edward comes back and still loves Daisy/Bella. But Daisy chooses the Tom/Jake character while Bella chooses the Edward/Gatsby character.
I'm not sure how much since that makes to anyone else. Jake's actual character is a little more like Gatsby in my opinion. I think Tom is nothing like Edward. Also, even though I agree that Bella is kind of selfish but she is not near as selfish as Daisy! Tell me what you think! |

| Daisy IS incredibly selfish... and I like the comparison, but yeah, it gets confusing at the end...
Does this version of Gatsby have a "Wilson"? Who is it? And will our Gatsby die in the end? |

| | Goodness I really hope Edward doesn't die! Yeah, I'm not so sure about the Wilson character because neither Jake nor Edward were with other women. So it couldn't be a direct comparison. Good point. I'll have to think about that. |
