Questions regarding the bracelet...

Let me start off by saying i support Edward but truly understand Jacobs side as well...but it just felt...imo....that you all have been a bit unfair about Edward and him giving a charm for Bella's bracelet.

Sure...Jacob made the wooden wolf. He put the time and thought into it.
Edward was then put into a position no one would want to be in: That persons bf/gf is wearing a bracelet/memento of a person who is openly in love with that person and openly trying to take that person away from you.

What if Edward had just done the same thing and made another little charm from hand like Jacob did and give Bella that? He would have gotten thrashed for just being a copy cat.

But Edward had to do something. He even said he wanted something on her to remember HIM by.
But oddly enough, She does not seem as keen on wearing something representing him as she does Jacob...something to think about...I know she says Edward as already given himself and that is enough, but something so small should not be a big deal right?

So what Edward left to do? He give her something that belonged to his mother! Is that not also widely accepted as a very sweet gesture of a gift from a guy to a girl?

I think the problem most people have is that it was in RESPONSE to jacobs gift.
Well of course! His girlfriend is wearing something that another guy gave her, and he is trying to take her from him!
No self-respecting guy would allow that to happen, most guys wouldnt even want her wearing it. But he is nice enough to compromise right? Part of his perfection.

I guess I just dont get how Edward got flack for this from you guys. Maybe its just my guy point of view that is glad he did something about it. I just feel his gift is no less better than Jacobs.

I agree mostly. They are both equal in my eyes and I think both charms have equal sentimental value to Bella. Maybe Edward's a little more than Jacob's only because that's Bella's true love. Yeah...that's my opinion.

I can agree with you totally on this one man, I guess it might just be our perspective, though Chelsea agrees, who knows....

I got the braclet last week! I kinda have the urge to rip the wolf off sometimes, but I resist!

I agree with you Gabriel. I think that the fact that Edward even tolerates Bella wearing another guy's (who is obviously trying to steal her love) charm on her wrist is beyond me. Edward is crazy patient and understanding. I don't think giving her a charm was something that deserves flack. I think he deserves respect for not ripping Jacob's face off.

Yes, give Edward his respect for not fighting with Jacob. Jacob was goading him a little bit I admit. (I'm a huge Jacob fangirl so this is hard for me to say) Now I'm going to defend Jacob:
Have you ever considered Edward overprotective and controlling? Maybe too controlling? Don't you think if he told Bella to take the bracelet off it would be even more controlling than he already is? And he is trying to keep her so he's not going to ask her to take the bracelet off. That would make her upset, and he doesn't want to do that. What's the next thing to do do get Jacob off Bella's mind? Give her something else. Thus, the diamond heart. I see it in a way where he was trying to get Bella to forget about Jacob, and think about him. To me it's not the fact that he didn't make his out of hand, but it's the fact that he wasn't being original. So, if it was hand-made or he inheirited it doesn't matter. But since he didn't think of his own idea, I'm going to have to give him flacks. Sorry, Gabriel. Does anyone understand what I'm saying?

I understand what you're saying Rennieren. But it was also the only thing that he could give her without her throwing a fit over. It wasn't very original but what else could he do? You're right, he couldn't ask her to take it off without her getting defensive and seem controlling, but he obviously was a little jealous that she takes presents from another man. Edward has a lot of self-control!

I'm sure if he wanted to give it to her that badly, why didn't he give it to her earlier? I think he's just insecure, but how could he not see that Bella was going to choose him? What if it was the other way around. What if Edward made Bella a bracelet then Jacob put his charm on it? Would you think it was wrong for Jacob to do that? I would say yes it was wrong to whoever did that. Even Jacob. (Cause you know how much I love him) I would be disappointed in him if he did.

You know how many people who hate Jacob would hate him even more if it were the other way around? They just think because he is Edward he can do anything. I think that is Jacob's bracelet, for Bella. Not Jacobs to share with Edward for Bella. I was very disappointed in Edward for that. I would be disappointed in Jake too, if it were the other way around.
