| Well, remember when Summit announced that Robert Pattinson was going to play Edward? (I personally was actually thinking of him as Edward before they even announced it.) Almost the entire Twilight fandom was outraged. Maybe not all of it, but definitely a good majority and the more outspoken ones. They were sending hatemail and bashing all over the place. Poor Rob got a ton of letters telling him he was all wrong, and not right for Edward, etc etc.
But as the weeks moved on, a lot of people have started to become okay with RPattz as Edward. Even more than okay, a lot of people are really excited about him now, and love him as Edward.
So in short and generic version, the fandom hated something right when it came out, but as time progressed they eventually were okay with it and ended up pretty happy with it.
She coined this the "Rob Effect" in a ten part interview with Entertainment Weekly about Breaking Dawn, saying that she thought Midnight Sun would take up that effect with readers who didn't like it.
So basically with the Midnight Sun topic, we're basically staying maybe Stephenie will fall victim to the Rob effect and eventually get over the leak, and release it anyway. |
